Our Services
How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

Early Intervention/Late Talkers
If your child is not yet talking, has a limited vocabulary, or has difficulty engaging with others during play, early support can make a meaningful difference. Through play-based therapy, we help infants and toddlers develop speech, language, play, and social communication skills while empowering families with strategies to support communication in everyday routines. Way to Grow Therapy is a contracted provider with Early Steps Northeast Florida.

Speech Sound Disorder
If your child is hard to understand or has trouble saying certain sounds, speech therapy can help. We treat:
-
Articulation Disorders: Difficulty producing specific sounds (e.g., saying "nake" instead of "snake").
-
Phonological Disorders: Using incorrect sound patterns (e.g., saying "tat" instead of "cat").
-
Motor Speech Disorders: Difficulty planning or coordinating the movements needed for speech.
Using evidence-based, play-based therapy, we help children speak more clearly and confidently.

Receptive and Expressive Language Delay
Your child may have difficulty understanding and using language in everyday situations. This can include trouble following directions, answering questions, learning new vocabulary, expressing thoughts and ideas, speaking in complete sentences, telling stories, or using age-appropriate grammar and communication skills.

Social Skills
You may notice that your child has difficulty interacting with others, taking turns during play, understanding social cues, managing emotions, or participating in conversations with family members, peers, or teachers. Speech therapy can help support social communication and everyday interaction skills.

AAC
Your child may benefit from AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tools, such as picture boards or speech devices like an iPad, to help them communicate their wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings more easily. AAC can support children with speech delays, limited verbal speech, or difficulty expressing themselves and can help improve communication at home, school, and in everyday activities.
